Forging a better path
As an early stage FinTech startup, there was a lot of room for the brand and company to establish a presence within the space. Joining as the first designer, there were many areas of focus that needed attention, and a lot of potential in the direction to take the brand, so I prioritized.
To scale the design practice and to align with company growth, I needed to develop a design system and establish a common design language.
I had to develop the design patterns and resources in order to define the design direction for future and current products, to support every organization within the company, and be able to evolve as the brand matures.
My primary responsibility was to develop product concepts, form ideas into tangible designs, and produce hi-fidelity products. Designing solutions that were familiar to the financial market but also provided a better user experience than what they were used to.
Our first product was an application that provided our clients with a streamlined dashboard that covered various industries and opportunities within the middle market, that consolidated industry data that was difficult to find anywhere else.
The web dashboard took advantage of the larger screen size to highlight the most recent deals but also provided the data on the front page for easy browsing and quick access.
The side panel provided an easy way to filter and narrow down the specific sector that the user wanted to view.
The mobile dashboard provided a consistent experience, but on a smaller screen. Our intention was to be mobile first in design and application, that was a seamless experience when the workflow continued on the web.
